Before & After

The same room,
photographed twice

Properties we have cleaned in Dublin, photographed on the day: one frame before we started, one when we finished.

What you are looking at

The before is the part that matters

Cleaning is unusually hard to show. Almost every cleaning website in the country uses the same photograph of a bright, empty kitchen — and that kitchen was already clean when the picture was taken. It proves nothing except that somebody bought a stock photo.

So this page is pairs instead. Every picture below is a place we were actually called to, taken on a phone on the day: one frame before anything was touched, one when the job was finished. The finished frame on its own would tell you very little. Put the two together and you can see what the visit was for.

Some of these are not flattering. A cupboard full of crumbs and a stained mattress are not nice photographs, and that is the point — if the before looked acceptable, there would be nothing to show.

Each pair is one picture, with the two frames set side by side as they were taken. Nothing is added to a frame and nothing is taken out of one. Properties are photographed with the customer’s agreement, and door numbers, documents and family photographs are kept out of shot.

Why the after looks like that

Three unglamorous reasons

01

The order of the work

Ceiling down, floors last, room finished before the next one is started. Nothing settles back onto a surface that has already been done. It is the dullest part of the job and it is most of the difference — the full order is set out in our standards.

02

Time on the parts nobody photographs

Cupboard interiors, the tops of doors, behind the radiators, the runs of silicone at the back of a worktop. None of it shows in a wide shot, and all of it is what somebody notices when they run a hand along it.

03

The right product for the surface

Limescale is dissolved, grease is broken down, and neither responds to general-purpose spray and effort. Getting this wrong is also how a finish gets damaged — see what each service covers.
